FADE IN: INT. TAYLOR DINING ROOM, DAY
ANDY, OPIE AND AUNT BEE ARE SHARINIG A CASUAL DINNER.
ANDY
So, Opie, you say Ms. Crump failed you in science although
you know you passed all the tests?
OPIE
That's right, Pa. Maybe she is losing it. Is she old enough to lose it?
ANDY
Well, I don't think so. She's still a pretty young thing for a teacher. And I
should know!
OPIE
AUNT BEE
Yes, Andy, what does mean?
ANDY
Well, what I meant to say was that Ms. Crump still has a
good body - ah, mind!, and I don't think
she would foul up the grades and give you something you didn't deserve. Even though
the other night she didn't 'preciate my taking her to a cheap restaurant on our
six-month dating anniversary.
AUNT BEE
What's that? You skimped on her special meal? Oh, Andy! How could you?!
ANDY SHOOTS AUNT BEE A COLD STARE.
OPIE
Pa, you think she gave me the bad grade 'cause of you being a thoughless tightwad?
ANDY
Ah, well, I just don't think she would do that!
OPIE
Pa, could you just call her and ask her? I can't have an F on my report card
regardless of the reason.
ANDY
Ah, Ope, I don't know ...
AUNT BEE
Ah, Andy, that's the least you could do to straighten this all out. Dial her right now.
ANDY GOES OVER AND DIALS THE PHONE.
ANDY
Oh, Helen. Andy here. ... Oh, you knew that? ... Why am I calling? ... No ... no I
am not calling to apologize for the crumby meal the other night. ... Well, ...
we will go out soon ... Well, ... Helen, please stop shouting! Calm down! ...
OK then! Good Bye!
ANDY COMES BACK TO THE TABLE.
AUNT BEE
Well? Does Opie have an A in science now?
ANDY
OPIE
ANDY
She didn't say much about the grade.
OPIE
Huh? I thought you were going to fix things, Pa!
OPIE GOES RUNNING TO HIS ROOM CRYING.
AUNT BEE
Andy! Now see what you have done!
ANDY
(seeing he is in a jam)
Aunt Bee, can you cook up some special meal for Ms. Crump real quick?
AUNT BEE
Boy, she really must have let you have it.
ANDY
Actually, she threatened just the opposite.
