LUCY IS REPLACING ON THE SHELF IN HER LIVING ROOM A COLLECTION OF PAPERS SHE HAS JUST READ THROUGH.
RICKY ENTERS THE ROOM.
RICKY
(seeing Lucy looking caught)
LUCY
Oh, nothing. Why do you ask?
RICKY
Well, you look just look a little flustered, that's all.
LUCY
(deciding to spill the beans)
Ricky, I was just reading those papers about your relatives and such. Why didn't you ever
tell me you had a connection to Castro?!
RICKY
Oh, those. Honey, that was in the past. I haven't seen Fidel in years.
LUCY
Fidel? I was talking about Pepino Ruiz.
RICKY
(beat)
I haven't thought of him in years.
LUCY
Isn't he a relative of yours?
RICKY
Lucy, he was a cousin on my half-brother's step-uncle's side of the family.
He was a bad man.
LUCY
RICKY
In every way! So I was told.
LUCY
(horrified)
Oh Ricky! Why were you involved with such a person?
RICKY
Whoa! Nobody said I was involved. I hardly even knew him.
LUCY
But, wasn't he a buddy of Castro?
RICKY
LUCY
(but wait)
What is a sidekick, anyway?
RICKY
I think he lit his cigars and laughed at him when he thought Fidel said something humorous.
LUCY
What kind of an existence was that?
RICKY
LUCY
But, what about communism?
RICKY
The commies have bills, too!
LUCY
(resigned to agree)
LUCY
(beat)
RICKY
(giving Lucy the "huh?" look)
JUST THEN ETHEL BUSTS IN THROUGH THE RICARDO'S FRONT DOOR, EXCITED AND FLUSTERED.
ETHEL
(out of breath)
Did you see it? Did you see the spaceship? The saucer! Did you? ...
LUCY
