B-MOVIE CRITIQUE

James Bond's Cousin

PEABODY

I never expected much from this movie and I was not disappointed. I mean, 007 movies are usually action-packed. Cousin-of-007 movies are unknown quantities. And, Buster Quash?? Come on!

LEWELLYN

Well, I saw early Bondisms demonstrated by Quash. Must be in the genes. He could never be hit by bullets fired point blank, he lured many women to his crib flashing them just a smile and he had a snazzy car or two.

PEABODY

Quash is a piker, both as an actor and portraying the type of person his cousin is. He gets by just by being Bond's relative, if you ask me.

LEWELLYN

But, unlike the real Bond, Quash is more the "every man" of the world. With faults and frailties we all possess.

PEABODY

I don't know about you, but I never got a string of foxey women to follow me because I smiled at them. In my case, I'd have to smile and drop $50's.

LEWELLYN

Quash was vulnerable. Like us.

PEABODY

And we don't have slick cars either, like Quash did. What was that odd little one he had the three brunettes in?... A King Midget? Not even a believable restoration!

No, while this film might try to stand as a poor cousin to the real Bond films, Quash, himself, with his mellon head and bow legs would be a turn-off.

LEWELLYN

I will give you the fact that Quash was not ruggedly handsome, but did you see the part when he whistled real loud? I don't think I have ever heard such! Hurt my 'drums.

PEABODY

Quash's one and only widescreen appearance - hopefully.

LEWELLYN

He tried and you have to give him points for being willing to try to act.

PEABODY

No I don't.

PEABODY

Oh. Well. ...

Please be with us next time when we will discuss the animated story about life on Noah's Ark: "Whose Turn to Swab the Deck Today?".
