FADE IN: TAYLOR HOUSE
ANDY AND AUNT BEE ARE ENJOYING THE AFTER-DINNER QUIET TIME.
ANDY
Anything significant happen today, Aunt Bee?
AUNT BEE
Oh, not much. Why do you ask?
ANDY
No particular reason. I just thought you may have run into the "cake lady" in town.
AUNT BEE
Well, as a matter of fact, I did see her. Clara and I ran into her by the bakery.
ANDY
Several of the men near the barber shop were commenting on her amazing cakes. And I do
mean baked products.
What's her name?
AUNT BEE
I just know her as the "cake lady". I don't think she has a name. At least not
one anyone can pronounce.
ANDY
AUNT BEE
(Aunt Bee's eyebrows are raised)
ANDY
What's that supposed to mean?
AUNT BEE
Andy, come on, ... "the cake lady" ?? Now you know she has a real name.
ANDY
I'm just surprised she's foreign, that's all.
AUNT BEE
ANDY
Well, whatever she is, she must be able to cook a mean cake.
AUNT BEE
ANDY
So what? Can't foreign folks live around here?
AUNT BEE
I guess, but she is real foreign, if you get my drift.
ANDY
I don't. What are you trying to say?
AUNT BEE
Just that she is foreign.
ANDY
Can we just drop the whole thing?
AUNT BEE
Well, I would but I sort of agreed to be the master of ceremonies at the multi-layer
cake bake-off next Saturday. Oh Andy, I just can't go through with it.
ANDY
Why? You've done it before.
AUNT BEE
Yes, but the bakers and the cakes themselves were not foreign!
ANDY
Aunt Bee, what are you even talking about?
AUNT BEE
A foreign cake? I don't think so!
ANDY FOLDS HIS NEWSPAPER AND GOES UPSTAIRS.
