GUMP

(looking at Lt. Dan)

Lt. Dan, your pants are stained! Pecker tracks?

LT. DAN

Not that, you dope! Different about my body.

GUMP

(staring)

Lt. Dan, you have, part of a beard?

LT. DAN

Yeah. It grew out differently on the left than the right.

GUMP

My mama always said I didn't know my left from my right. Maybe she was really talking about you, Lt. Dan!

(Gump chuckles)

LT. DAN

Well, I don't know about that but I do know that having stump legs is enough of a burden to bear without having this lop-sided beard.

GUMP

Why don't you do what my mama always did?

LT. DAN

What's that, Gump? Or should I even ask.

GUMP

She just shaved twice a day.

LT. DAN

Hold it. Your mother shaved?

GUMP

She always said a good razor was even better than a box of choc -

LT. DAN

NO! No! I cannot hear one more "box of chocolates" similarity.

GUMP

OK, Lt. Dan. But, she did shave. She had a lot of facial hair. But it was symmetric.
