B-MOVIE CRITIQUE

Beat It! Get Outta My Yard!

PEABODY

When this movie opens, an old man was seen putting away a heavy rake, as if he had just used it.

LEWELLYN

Yeah. You thought he used it for chasing kids off his lawn, didn't you?

PEABODY

Yes.

LEWELLYN

But, you learned later that did not happen, didn't you?

PEABODY

Yes.

LEWELLYN

I thought the same, but I knew that's what the makers of the movie wanted us to think.

PEABODY

OK ... ?

LEWELLYN

But, after he hung up his rake, you could hear kids yelling and mocking the old man.

PEABODY

Yeah, that's right ...

LEWELLYN

The scene quickly changed to seeing his wife in a hospital bed.

PEABODY

Yeah, what was that?

LEWELLYN

A real non sequitur.

PEABODY

A what?

LEWELLYN

Non sequitur. You know, it came out of left field and didn't fit in the flow of the story.

PEABODY

What story?! The movie had just begun!

LEWELLYN

No, there was the rake scene.

PEABODY

OK, one scene! Big deal!

Anyway, the movie after that was like a broken record; things just kept repeating. Like the film editing didn't happen right, and they let it remain that way.

LEWELLYN

Yeah. So, after that started I essentially lost interest and turned it off.

PEABODY

Ditto.

LEWELLYN

I think the movie could have been good, but it wasn't.

PEABODY

You got that right!

So, until next time, when we will discuss another obscure film I'll say, so long from Junior Peabody ...

LEWELLYN

... And Joe-Bob Lewellyn.
