EVENING
8PM SPINOFF : FORREST GUMP - New show, 1 hr.

FORREST GUMP

"Bugged"

LT. DAN RUNS HIS HAND OVER SOME AREAS ON THE JENNY BELLE WHICH HAS BEEN NEARLY EATEN UP WITH TERMITES.

LT. DAN

This is not good, Gump. We can ill-afford this now. We're cash short, you know. Got it all tied up in the market.

GUMP

Lt. Dan, is "cash short" anything like a box of chocolates?

LT. DAN

I don't think so, Gump. I'm sure I'll regret this, but, why do you ask?

GUMP

Oh, I was just thinking. And, for no particular reason, a box of chocolates just came to my brain.

LT. DAN
(Lt. Dan just stares at Gump)

Gump, I really wasn't sure anything went through that space between your ears.

GUMP

You know, Lt. Dan, my brain is like a box of chocolates.

LT. DAN
(Lt. Dan grabs his face with both hands, pulling downward)

Why do you do it? Why do you ask some variation of that question every time?!

GUMP

Oh, no particular reason. Quizzical is as quizzical does.

LT. DAN
(Lt. Dan stops and turns to face Gump)

That might be poignant, but I don't think so.
